Welcome to Year 1JH
Miss Harter, Miss Smart and Miss Scott
Welcome back after the Summer holidays Year 1! I am so excited to get to know you all. We have an exciting year ahead of us and I can't wait to show you everything we have planned! Miss Harter.
We have busy days filled with lots of lovely learning! Please see below for some key information.
As we are focusing on developing independence and sense of responsibility, we encourage our children to look after their own belongings. To avoid items being lost, please ensure that all items of clothing are labelled with your child’s name. Please bring a coat to school everyday and in colder weather, a hat and gloves.
Keep checking our webpage for more information about what to expect this year, and to keep up to date with events in Year 1.
Thank you for your support.
Reading
Please listen to your child read every day, we request that you sign and date the red reading record every time you read at home with your child. You can also let us know if they found anything particularly difficult. Books and folders need to be returned to school every day, we change books throughout the week. You need to record your child's reading in the yellow books and then the reading book can be changed. Your child will receive additional books or ditty sheets linked to their Read Write Inc phonics group.
PE
We have our PE lessons every Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure children come to school wearing their PE tops and shorts under tracksuit bottoms, PE hoodie or their school jumper, and trainers. Please make sure that these are all labelled.
Homework
Your child’s homework tasks will be given out every Friday. These homework tasks include spellings, Maths and handwriting. Please complete spellings from the uploaded list, every day. We request that your child writes these, rather than complete on the screen as this gives the opportunity to develop the correct letter formation.
Log in details for NumBots have been sent home to every child, please support your child to access NumBots as often as possible. We are able to introduce a competitive element as we can view the leader board in school.
