Welcome to Year 2RH! We have had a lovely start to the year and it has been wonderful to see so many happy, smiley faces walk through the door each day. You have returned after the summer holidays with positive attitudes to learning and I am super excited for all the fun activities and units of work we will be covering this year.
This half term we are learning about:
English: Fantastic Mr Fox
Maths: Place value, addition and subtraction
Science: Animal including humans
PE: Team work games
History: Florence Nightingale, Edith Cavell and Mary Seacole
Computing: Algorithms
RE: Is is possible to be kind to everyone all of the time?
Art & Design: Tell a story
Music: Hand, Feet, Heart
PSHE: Being me
Spanish: Self, family & friends
Reading
We encourage children to read as much as they can independently, with an adult and as a class. All children should have a home/school reading book and a reading for pleasure book. Reading books will go home every night and are to be returned every morning to school. Please write a comment in the reading record praising how well your child has read. Books will be changed on a Friday
PE
PE is on a Thursday and a Friday. Children should come to school in their PE kits on these days.
Homework
Homework will be given out on a Friday and to be brought back in on the following Friday. Children will receive Maths, RWI virtual classroom and handwriting homework. Children also have access to NumBots. Here they can increase their knowledge and speed of their place value knowledge as well as challenging their friends and teachers! TTRockstars is also available to children, so they can practise their times tables.
