What a fabulous start we have had to year 5!
It has been wonderful to see the children entering school everyday with a smile on their faces, eager to learn. They are working as hard as they can and enjoying getting to know their new teachers. Year 5 is an exciting year with lots of opportunities for the children to play guitars, attend swimming lessons, learn new skills and much much more. We can't wait to see what the year brings!
Reading
We encourage children to read as much as they can independently, with an adult and as a class. All children should have a home/school reading book and a reading for pleasure book. Reading books will go home every night and are to be returned every morning to school. Please write a comment in the reading record praising how well your child has read.
Attendance and Punctuality
We expect all of our children to have excellent attendance, aiming for 100% every week. Being in the line for 5 to 9 ensures pupils are punctual and will not miss out on any of their learning and enjoyment of school.
PE
Indoor PE is on Thursday and Friday. Children should come to school wearing their PE kits over their white Tshirts and blue shorts on these days.
Homework
Homework will be given out on Fridays and is to be returned before the following Friday. Children also have access to Times Tables Rock Stars and Spelling Shed. Here they can increase their knowledge and speed of times tables and weekly spellings, as well as challenging their friends and teachers!
